One thing I love doing whenever I go back to Cape Town is going to the Kirstenbosch summer sunset concert!
Now that we are back in freezing cold Italy, I can’t help but think back on all the things we did in sunny Cape Town. Of course, we always go when it’s summer there, so the kids just love it, they can do everything outdoor and are just so active. The summer concert is just a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Kirstenbosch is a national botanical garden, set against the slopes of Table Mountain. It is thought to be one of the most beautiful botanic gardens of the world, and in fact was voted by National Geographic as one of the best places in the world to have a picnic! Every Sunday during the summer months, Kirstenbosch puts on sunset concerts with music from local musicians and bands. It’s the perfect place to be. I have been coming since my days at University and now I still continue to enjoy it, with my kids, who love it too!
Richard always makes sure that I book tickets before we even arrive in SA, and tell all our friends to meet us there. We all bring a blanket, a picnic basket, a bottle of wine, and have a stress free relaxing afternoon! Whenever we have visitors from overseas, I make sure to try and include a Sunday afternoon concert, and they are so impressed with the pure beauty of the place. You also get every single type of person mixed into one venue, I love people watching!
Gaja and Soraya had the best time, dancing away and laughing the whole time. They thought it was hilarious. In fact, I think Soraya thought that this was HER concert, as she kept standing in front of the crowd putting on a big performance of ‘Let it Go’ from the movie Frozen…….. I definitely see a future performer in the family!
